Unlike TV and movies, there is generally a high correlation between high critic (and audience) scores and financial success in gaming, so two of the most successful games of the last year are…Elden’s Ring and God of War. The question marks are Redfall and Starfield, which Microsoft no doubt expected to score high. My guess is that Forza Motorsport guarantees high 80s, low 90s scores, given the pedigree of that series. Microsoft is clearly hoping that the Hi-Fi Rush isn’t the exception, but in terms of scores the rule seems to attract other exclusives this year. Is there any future content like DLC planned for this? Does this kind of performance mean that Hi-Fi Rush 2 is going to be the next game from Tango Gameworks? I mean, it certainly doesn’t seem like you’d go in with The Evil Within 3 in the face of this kind of success here. I guess I’m curious what happens next with Hi-Fi Rush. No regrets! It’s an incredible game and sinking even more time into it after publication, I stand by it. I should note that both aggregate scores include my recently published 9.5/10 review, which means I’m personally pulling that average up. Even if the 88 sticks on Metacritic, it would still make it the highest-scoring Xbox exclusive in the past year. So, Hi-Fi Rush is behind only GOTY winner Elden Ring and runner-up God of War Ragnarok, and tied with Freshly Frosted, some sort of…dear donut puzzle game, though only counted 11 reviews. Using the 2022 “Hall of Fame” chart on OpenCritic, we can see where Hi-Fi Rush lands: However, on OpenCritic, a 91 (with 100% critics recommend) means that if we look back at the past year, there are only two games that have received higher reviews. Huh.Īs it stands now, Hi-Fi Rush has a 91 on OpenCritic and an 88 on Metacritic, which for some reason just about a third of the reviews score. Xbox has hit a much-needed critical and audience hit with Hi-Fi Rush, a game that’s attracting sky-high user scores even in the era of console partisan bombardment, and its critic scores are starting to add up, too.
